Vader 5 Pro Back Button Showdown: Official Blade Shape vs. Third-Party Metal

So, we all know the Flydigi Vader 5 Pro is a beast, but those stock back buttons... let’s just say they aren't for everyone. I picked up the two most popular replacements to see if they’re worth your cash.

Spoilers: Neither is perfect. Both have some "dealbreaker" flaws depending on how you play. Here’s the breakdown.

1. Flydigi Official Blade Shape Buttons

Price: $9.90 (Estimated Price)

These are Flydigi’s own "pro" solution. They change the geometry of the back buttons entirely.

The Good:

  • Top-tier QC: It’s an official product, so the molding is perfect. Snaps in and out of the controller like a dream.
  • Ergonomics: Unlike the stock buttons, these extend upward. Your fingers naturally rest right on the trigger point.
  • Durability: Thicker plastic. You won’t have to worry about these snapping like the stock ones sometimes do.
  • Feel: Smooth, rounded finish. Feels premium in the hand.

The Bad:

  • The M1/M2 Graveyard: This is the big one. Because of the "blade" shape, they almost completely block access to the inner M1 and M2 buttons.

2. Unofficial Metal Back Buttons

Price: $13.99 (Third-party/Estimated Price)

If you love the stock layout but hate the plastic feel or fear the "snap," these are the alternative.

The Good:

  • Built Like a Tank: It’s metal. It’s not going to break. Period.
  • Zero Learning Curve: The shape is an exact 1:1 replica of the stock buttons. Muscle memory stays intact.
  • Premium Texture: The front-facing side is polished to a mirror finish. Feels cold, heavy, and high-end.
  • Full Access: Unlike the Blade Shape, these don't get in the way of M1/M2 at all.

The Bad:

  • Rough Around the Edges: While the front is smooth, the backside is unpolished and rough.
  • Gritty Install: Because the back is a bit crude, snapping them in and out feels "crunchy" rather than smooth.

The Verdict?

I honestly can’t give a "must-buy" recommendation here because it’s a "pick your poison" situation:

  • Go for the Official Blade Shape if you only care about two back buttons and want the most comfortable, ergonomic experience.
  • Go for the Metal Buttons if you need all four back buttons (M1-M4) and want something that will never, ever break.

Which one would you trade-off? Comfort or Access? Let me know in the comments.
